TOP TROPHY FOR RUTHERGLEN ESTATES ARNEIS FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING
Rutherglen Estates 2017 Arneis has been awarded the Trophy for Best Emerging or Alternative Varietal or blend for the second year running at the Victorian Wine Show in Nagambie yesterday.
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this trophy for the second time,” said Chief Winemaker & General Manager Marc Scalzo. Arneis is one of our Italian varietals that is doing very well for us in Rutherglen. It is a fantastic wine which is developing a real following.”
In addition to this great result, Rutherglen Estates was the only winery from the Rutherglen region to have a wine make the finalist list for the inaugural Premier’s Trophy for Best Victorian Wine with their 2014 Limited Release Durif.
“We are constantly raising the bar on ourselves in terms of quality, and it’s always gratifying to have the outside world tell you that you are on the right track,” said Scalzo.
Established in 1981 the Victorian Wine Show is the only wine show on the national circuit promoting wines made from grapes grown and produced in Victoria only. It attracts top class judges from overseas and Australia and plays an important role in bringing the excellent quality of Victorian wines to public attention. Since its inception in 1981, the show now draws more than 750 entries each year.
Rutherglen Estates produces a wide range of award winning alternative varietals, true to style using progressive and innovative winemaking techniques.
