Rutherglen Estates’ General Manager and Chief Winemaker, Marc Scalzo, and Tuileries’ General Manager, Tony Lamb, have attended a press conference organised by the Indigo Shire Council to promote the proposal to obtain a federal grant for an updated Rutherglen streetscape.
The Rutherglen Economic Revitalisation Project is estimated to generate an extra 50 tourists a day to our historic township, and six casual jobs at Tuileries and cellar door. The proposal, if passed, will see the Main Street of Rutherglen significantly enhanced with the inclusion of new connecting pathways and street furniture, tree plantings and links to Lake King and the iconic Rutherglen Wine Bottle.
Plans for extra accommodation and a function centre at the Rutherglen Estates/Tuileries complex, as well as improved guttering, would be accelerated if the federal government approves the grant.
We are very excited about this proposal and eagerly await the decision in December.
