We are thrilled to have Stefano de Pieri as guest chef for our Lunch in the Vines. Stefano has long been a household name in Australia thanks to his contribution to food and wine. Apart from the success of his restaurant Stefano’s in Mildura, it was the ABC television series, Gondola on the Murray, which catapulted this self-taught cook into the public’s imagination.
Through food and his easy, approachable manner, Stefano has represented causes close to his heart as a spokesperson, advocate, board member and ambassador.
Stefano will be joined by his long time colleague and co-author Jim McDougall. Jim completed his apprenticeship at the Grand Hotel in Mildura under Stefano before moving to Melbourne (2006) to work at three-hat restaurant Vue de Monde, under Shannon Bennet. He was then promoted to head chef of Cafe Vue at 401. In 2012, Jim brought his unique style of cooking back to Mildura to join forces with Stefano once again.
Rutherglen Estates lunch in the vines will feature 5 courses created by Stefano & Jim, matched to our very own wines. It promises to be a fabulous day of vines, wines and dining. The cost includes all food, wine, bus transport to & from Albury/Wodonga – Corowa/Rutherglen, live music and of course your chance to meet the makers – Stefano, Jim and our very own Winemaker, Marc Scalzo.
