Our VRM strikes GOLD again at the Rutherglen Wine Show ...
Rutherglen Estates 2008 VRM (Viognier Roussanne Marsanne) took out two trophies and one gold medal at the 2010 Annual Rutherglen Wine Show. The wine won:
TROPHY for Wangaratta Wine and Food Society Trophy for Best Australian Dry White Table Wine from fruit grown in the North East Victoria Region
TROPHY for Winemakers of Rutherglen Perpetual Trophy for Best Australian Dry White Table Wine made from fruit grown in the Rutherglen Region
and a GOLD medal.
“We are very excited about receiving these awards as they recognise the potential of Rutherglen to make world class dry table wines that deliver quality and unique varietal character,” said winemaker Marc Scalzo.
Our premium 2008 VRM, from our Renaissance range, was selected from the best parcels of fruit in the vineyard. Traditionally grown in France’s Rhone Valley, these white varieties are ideally suited to the conditions of Rutherglen, and the barrel fermented blend of Viognier (45%), Roussanne (35%) and Marsanne (20%) displays this perfectly. This wine has a crisp creamy texture and ripe fruit flavours, with enduring citrus and honey notes on the finish, making it a perfect wine to match with seafood.
Rutherglen Estates produces only small quantities of the Renaissance VRM each year along with two other wines in the range, the Renaissance Zinfandel and Renaissance Petit Sirah (reserve Durif).
Rutherglen Estates had great success at the 2010 Rutherglen Wine Show, and also received three silver medals and five bronze medals at the show for:
SILVER 2009 Renaissance VRM
SILVER 2007 Durif
SILVER 2008 Red (Shiraz Durif)
