Great reviews from the acclaimed Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
Reviews by Jay Miller, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate 30 June 2011
Rutherglen Estates 2008 Red (Shiraz Durif) 'A
blend of 85% Shiraz and 15% Durif (Petit Sirah), the 2008 Shiraz Durif
has a very deep garnet-purple colour and pronounced notes of blackbery
preserves, warm blueberries and menthol with a hint of dried bay leaf.
The full bodied palate has very crisp, slightly disjointed acidity with
plenty of juicy, berry flavoured fruit, a medium level of chewy tannins
and a medium-long finsh. Drinking now, it should remain good through
2014. 86 points'
Rutherglen Estates 2008 Durif 'Very
deep purple-black in colour, the 2008 Durif (Petit Sirah) offers
pronounced notes of prunes, dried mulberries and spice cake with a whiff
of tilled loam. Full bodied and generously fruited, the palate yields
very crisp acid and a medium level of velvety tannins, finishing long
and spicy. Drink it now to 2016. 91 points'
Rutherglen Estates NV Muscat 'Medium
amber-brown in colour, the NV Muscat displays intense notes of walnuts,
treacle, sultanas and ginger cake over preserved mandarin peel and
manuka honey. Very full bodied, sweet, rich and viscous, it has just
enough balanced acid and a long spicy finish. Drink it now. 92 points'
