'In warm Rutherglen, Rutherglen Estate cultivates the Rhone Valley white
varieties, viognier, roussanne and marsanne. Fermented as separate
components in oak barrels and later blended, the trio make a full bodied
but graceful, soft dry white of great appeal. Viognier gives weight,
flavour and texture; roussanne boosts the aroma while mollifying
viognier’s tendency to oiliness; and marsanne, say the makers, gives it
longevity. It’s a delicious and unique blend, all the better for a
couple of years’ bottle age. 4 stars'Winestate, www.winestate.com.au, November 2011
'Big, oak-driven wine with the oak sitting on top of some attractive dried apricot/green ginger fruit characters. 3.5 stars'Rutherglen Estates Renaissance 2008 ZinfandelWinestate, www.winestate.com.au, November 2011
'Elegant! Loads of blueberry-like fruit. "Love the spice," commented one judge. Has a good balance of acid, oak and residual sugar. 4 stars' Rutherglen Estates Renaissance 2007 Reserve DurifMartin Field, www.thewineblog.net, November 2011'Dense to opaque ruby-red. Warm, almost potty-nose. Lip-smacking, chewy tannins lead off in this robust and complex red. It's a heady melange of plums, blackberries, pencil shavings, anise, mocha, leather, and alcohol. Not for the faint of heart. Serve with a substantial main course and plan for an after dinner nap. 4 stars'
