Our 2009 Renaissance VRM continues to impress the critics
Tony Keys, www.thekeyreport.com.au, November 2011 'A blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne. Green/gold colour with a full fragrant and rich nose, this is quite some wine. It has a sweet taste to start but this is a brief illusion as it turns dry very quickly. The flavours are broad and interesting. 95 points and great value for $30 if looking for something different.'
Winestate, www.winestate.com.au, November 2011 'Big, oak-driven wine with the oak sitting on top of some attractive dried apricot/green ginger fruit characters. 3.5 stars'
Gary Walsh, www.winefront.com.au, 30 September 2011 'These sorts of blends are just the thing for the region I reckon. Here's a blend of 57% Viognier, 29% Roussanne and 14% Marsanne done in a bit of French oak. Apologies for the bottle image - seems to have a few coins or something stuck to the side. Some honeysuckle, wax and spice - vinous and perhaps a little fruit neutral (in a good way), though there's some stonefruit and mixed citrus (with mandarin exotica). It has good texture, a little pithy and flinty, with well balanced fruit weight and subtle stave work adding complexity. There's some flavours of bitter lemon and curd and a dry finish of good length. Nice wine. Well sophisticated mate.' Learn more or purchase Rutherglen Estates 2009 Renaissance VRM
