2011 Savagnin has real character and is worth chasing down ...

Shepparton News - Weekend Wine, Alex Berry, 18 February 2012
Rutherglen Estates has been at the forefront of trialling and developing alternative varieties including Arneis, Albarino/Savagnin, Fiano, Nebbiolo, Marsanne, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Zinfandel. Amid all the unusual varieties this Savagnin is attractive on the nose, with an almost pungent, floral bouquet and then a lemon zest kind of mineral palate which is very appealing. Among the many unknown styles emerging in Australia, this wine has real character and is worth chasing down so you can try the style and be delighted with its appeal. Try it with savoury and seafood dishes.
