Rose bottle shot 2018 2

Per Bottle
Case Of 6

Rosé is a refreshing red wine to be enjoyed chilled on a hot summer’s day with light summer fare. Ideal for a barbecue and for drinking with spicy food such as curries. Also good with ripe peaches. Very much the modern rosé for contemporary food.

Vintage Conditions

A cooler and slightly wetter than average winter delayed the start of the growing season in Rutherglen, however once it began the vineyards experienced regular rainfall and warm temperatures throughout the spring. This was followed by warm and dry summer months. The surprising thing about the temperatures during the ripening period was that even though they were slightly up on average, we did not experience any days of extreme heat. This consistently warm weather shortened the growing season and meant that the time taken for vintage was considered average across our vineyards.
This consistent warm weather enabled the grapes to develop lovely full flavours and that coupled with the fantastic colour means that our red and fortified wines are showing high levels of fruit flavour and character. Our white wines are also looking very good with high levels of texture and fantastic flavour.
Vintage 2018 is what winemakers consider to be a ‘consistent’, and therefore highly desirable vintage, that will allow wines to be enjoyed now and well into the future.

Tasting Notes

Rosé wines can be coloured any shade of pink, from a barely perceptible hue through to pale red. They are common in the warmer, southern regions of France, where there is a significant level of demand for a refreshing red wine to be enjoyed on a hot summer’s day. Rosé style wines are enjoying a surge in popularity in Australia, for similar lifestyle reasons.
Our dry style Rosé is made from Grenache with a touch of Shiraz grapes. Surprisingly robust, the palate is full of pretty fruit flavours reminiscent of strawberries and cream, with added spiciness from the Grenache. Serve chilled to fully enjoy the rich blend of sweet berry fruit, pepper and spice.

After soaking on skins at less than 10ºC, the ‘pink’ juice is drained to capture the delicate, pretty, sweet fruit characters before any of the tannins have been extracted. The juice is then fermented using white winemaking techniques. Aromatic yeast selection and a cool fermentation temperature has produced a fruit driven wine which is representative of a style of Rosé from the Rutherglen region.
